WHAT IS CHILI WEEK 2017-09-20T00:10:59+00:00

WHAT IS 217 CHILI WEEK?

#217ChiliWeek will kick off autumn with a dish that is sure to warm you! How do you prefer it—with meat and beans or just beans? Red, white or green? From September 25 through October 1, you’ll have a chance to experience a variety of these spice-laden, local concoctions known as both chili and chilli. No less than 15 local restaurants have developed some creative dishes and combos for you to try.

With only seven days, will you have time to try them all? Get together with your friends, check out all the restaurants’ offerings at www.217foodweek.com and start making plans now.

While you’re enjoying all the chefs’ inspired dishes, don’t forget your #217ChiliWeek passport to plan and document your food journey and for a chance to win one of our great prizes! Pick up your passport at any participating restaurant or download one from the 217FoodWeek website. Collect a stamp each time you try the special offers. If you get your passport stamped at three or more locations, you’ll be eligible to win our fantastic Chillin’ Fall prize.

Our $5 price point makes #217ChiliWeek easy on the wallet, and the offer is good for dine-in experiences during both lunch and dinner.

THE 7 COMMANDMENTS OF 217 CHILI WEEK

1. THEY MAY RUN OUT, BUT THEY WILL MAKE MORE TOMORROW.

Our restaurants will be busy. We saw this during #217Nacho&TacoWeek. So, if a place runs out toward the end of a shift, take it like a pro—go back the next day, try an earlier time, order your food and thank them for working their tails off to do this for you. Please be nice to our restaurants and their staff.

2. THERE WILL BE WAITS. BE PATIENT.

Don’t be surprised if restaurants are busy and you have to wait a little longer for your food. In fact, be surprised if they aren’t.

3. YOU WILL TIP AND GIVE THANKS

$5 brings out the cheap in all of us, but really, you’re getting a great deal (many restaurants go way overboard with ingredients trying to outdo each other), so please tip at least 20%. We expect the people who are serving you are working harder during #217ChiliWeek than at any other point in the year.  A kind word will also be welcome—these people are our friends and neighbors.

4. YOU REALLY SHOULD BUY A DRINK OR OTHER FOOD

While extra purchases are not a requirement, we think it says something good about you if you show a little love to a restaurant going above and beyond to bring you an awesome meal. Take a friend, or two or three! These restaurants will still offer their regular menu items. You’ll enjoy yourself more with friends, anyway. #217ChiliWeek is dine-in only. There will be no $5 carry out orders.

5. CHECK TWITTER, FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM

Restaurants are encouraged to use social media during this promotion. Check their sites for any last-minute updates or changes. For links to the restaurants, CLICK HERE, and you’ll find all the info and links you’ll need. Also, check Facebook, Instagram & Twitter for #217ChiliWeek.

6. SOCIAL SHARING IS CARING

We’re celebrating with more great giveaways! #217ChiliWeek is a social affair, so we’ll reward notable social sharers with restaurant gift cards. Tag us for a chance to win!
