WHAT IS 217 TACO, NACHO & MARGARITA WEEK?

Illinois Times 217 Taco, Nacho & Margarita Week June 8-14

The $5 price makes 217 Taco, Nacho & Margarita Week easy on the wallet and the offer is good for dine-in experiences during both lunch and dinner. Ask your servers for featured El Jimador and Corona beer drinks specials. Remember 217 food week encourages all to drink responsibly.

217 Food Week food will be a bit different with the current restrictions and social distancing requirements.

Most locations but not all will offer both curbside and outdoor dining options, but please call, visit 217foodweek.com or check the restaurants Facebook to confirm.

Passports will be available to help you plan your food week travels but no “stamping” will be done by the restaurants during this food week. Simply return your passport complete with your contact information to Illinois Times offices by mail or in person to 1240 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL 62703.  Passports are due by June 22.

Please be patient as the volume will be high and there may be a longer wait for your food/drink orders.  Be sure and tip your server or curbside delivery person.

Featured food week items and drinks can be found at 217foodweek.com as well as 217 Food Week’s Facebook page.

THE 7 COMMANDMENTS OF 217 FOOD WEEK

1. THEY MAY RUN OUT, BUT THEY WILL MAKE MORE TOMORROW.

Our restaurants will be busy during #217FoodWeek. So, if a place runs out toward the end of a shift, take it like a pro—go back the next day, try an earlier time, order your food and thank them for working their tails off to do this for you. Please be nice to our restaurants and their staff.

Please be nice to our restaurants and their staff.

2. THERE WILL BE WAITS. BE PATIENT.

Don’t be surprised if restaurants are busy and you have to wait a little longer for your food. In fact, be surprised if they aren’t.

3. YOU WILL TIP AND GIVE THANKS

$5 brings out the cheap in all of us, but really, you’re getting a great deal (many restaurants go way overboard with ingredients trying to outdo each other), so please tip at least 20%. We expect the people who are serving you are working harder during #217FoodWeek than at any other point in the year.  A kind word will also be welcome—these people are our friends and neighbors.

4. YOU REALLY SHOULD BUY A DRINK OR OTHER FOOD

While extra purchases are not a requirement, we think it says something good about you if you show a little love to a restaurant going above and beyond to bring you an awesome meal. Take a friend, or two or three! These restaurants will still offer their regular menu items. You’ll enjoy yourself more with friends, anyway. #217FoodWeek is dine-in only. There will be no $5 carry out orders.

5. CHECK TWITTER, FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM

Restaurants are encouraged to use social media during this promotion. Check their sites for any last-minute updates or changes. For links to the restaurants, CLICK HERE, and you’ll find all the info and links you’ll need. Also, check Facebook, Instagram & Twitter for #217FoodWeek.

6. SOCIAL SHARING IS CARING

We’re celebrating with more great giveaways! #217ChiliWeek is a social affair, so we’ll reward notable social sharers with restaurant gift cards. Tag us for a chance to win!
